On Sunday, Jan 25th, Diane and Malice picked up their pre-assigned wild mustangs from the BLM facility in Mariana, Fl.  The mares were placed each in their own 24ft x 24ft pen with hay and fresh water to settle in for the night.

The next day as morning chores were done, both Diane and Malice were pleased that their mares seemed relatively calm and curious. A good sign.

Diane and Malice begin bonding with their horses, establishing trust by using gentling techniques such as the pole cane. The pole allows the trainer to begin gently touching the horse at a distance that feels safe to the horse and the trainer. Gradually as the horse relaxes the trainer is able to approach closer and closer.

With trust established, Diane and Malice are able to get close and gently touch their mares.
